The Galway Cathedral can be seen from around the city and it valued around the world for bringing people together. Built on the site of a former jail it went from a place of sorrow to a house of hope. And even though it is the newest Cathedral in Europe it has a rich history. It has ties to President John F. Kennedy, it was built with materials from around the world and it put people to work at a time they needed it most. The Cathedral is a landmark, a community staple and a place tribute to Irish spirit.

Erin Breen is an Emmy award-winning journalist, columnist and writer for television, radio and print. She lived in Galway for three years while getting her Master’s Degree which is when she created her podcast, Erin’s Isle.

She is A Broad Abroad, posting her podcasts to both Aer Lingus and British Airways and now taking small tours to Ireland to see the places she writes about.
