The Muskerry Arms

It's just across the green from the Blarney Castle, in the center of Blarney Village. It's the center of activity in the village for dinner, for live music and as the perfect place to stay to tour the Blarney Castle. But that's not what makes the Muskerry Arms so cool. It's the family who runs it. 

Derry O'Connor bought it 35 years ago. He actually grew up across from it and always dreamed of owning it. Now two of his sons' Jerome and Gary run it with their families. They are still focused on quality and family values. In fact when I was there a few weeks back, They were remodeling the first floor that boasts the original bar their own father built. They were refinishing the original pine planks of the floor and adding complimentary tile that matches the style of the old Inn. Both Jerome and Gary were dressed in overalls, throwing their own power into the project. That's how a family business works. 

Next week they'll be dressed in suits again and headed to New York where another brother lives and runs three Irish pubs, boast the same authentic Irish Charm.  And that's no Blarney at all!
